Travels With A Portrait Photographer

Explore this year’s sesquicentennial celebration honoring Edward S. Curtis and the art of portraiture with photographer Sharon Eva Grainger. She will talk about her life’s work as a portrait photographer around the world, her experiences photographing collaboratively in indigenous communities, and delve into the difference between looking and seeing. Washington Rural Heritage: Learning on Lummi Island

Talks/Lectures

Once Lummi Island was a township with its own school district and two school houses. Learn about the young single women who came here as teachers and left a legacy that lives on today. Isaac Colgan presents the collection he has gathered for the Washington Rural Heritage grant from the Washington State Library, and sponsored by Whatcom County Library System and Friends of Island Library.
