Travelogue: Ecuador—Volcanoes and Waterfalls, Adventures in the Andes

Talks/Lectures

Istvan Hernadi and Diane Groody share a slide presentation about the volcanoes and waterfalls of the Ecuadorean Andes. Hernadi is a retired IT engineer from Canada who spent many years writing stories, taking photos, and hiking remote trails while traveling in the Himalayas, Andes, and the Arctic. Diane Groody is a retired geologist and clinical social worker in Bellingham who travels extensively overseas and worked as a volunteer teacher and counselor in Bhutan. Light refreshments served.

Rooted, Revived, Reinvented—Two Basket Artists Discuss Their Artwork

Art Talk

Join the Advocates for coffee at 11:30 am followed by presentations by basket makers Lisa Telford and Lanny Bergner. Both Telford and Bergner are included in the Rooted, Revived, Reinvented: Basketry in America exhibition on view in the Lightcatcher building. The basketry exhibitions in the Lightcatcher and Old City Hall can be viewed after the free lecture with paid admission.

Your backyard is your outdoor sanctuary. With some careful plant choices, it can be a sanctuary for nesting and overwintering birds, as well as, a recharge station for migrating birds. Join us as local native plant specialists and a representative from the City of Bellingham’s Landscaping for Wildlife program provide us with the information we need to create our own backyard bird haven.
