Harry Potter & The Sorcerer's Stone

Film

We are pleased to inform you that you have been invited by the Mount Vernon City Library to this year's "Read the Book, See the Movie", sponsored by the Mount Vernon Elks Lodge #1604. A free showing of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone will begin at 2:30pm at the Lincoln Theatre followed by a free BBQ and ice cream social in Pine Square. Free copies of the book will be given out, while supplies last! The best-selling novel by J.K. Rowling (titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in England) becomes this wonderful fantasy adventure from Chris Columbus. Upon his 11th birthday, Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), who lives in misery with an aunt and uncle that don't want him, learns from a giant named Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane) that he is the orphaned son of powerful wizards. Harry is offered a place at prestigious Hogwarts, a boarding school for wizards that exists in a realm of magic and fantasy outside the dreary existence of normal humans or "Muggles." At Hogwarts, Harry quickly makes new friends and begins piecing together the mystery of his parents' deaths, which appear not to have been accidental after all.

Dudestock 2019! The Big Lebowski Turns 21

Film

Our 9th annual DudeStock this year celebrates the 21st Anniversary of the greatest film ever made. At DudeStock we raise our Caucasians to all things related to the 1998 cult favorite. Fans of the film (aka "Achievers") come from far and wide to drink White Russians while partaking in the film, listening to Creedence and partying with an array of Dudes, Walters, Maudes and (hopefully) Jesus' to one of cinemas greatest achievements. Prizes will be awarded for best costume in several categories, including a chance to win a comfy couch seat in the theatre for the show. Arrive early (doors at 7pm, film at 8pm) for Big Screen Bowling. The plot of this Raymond Chandler-esque comedy crime caper from the Coen Brothers pivots around a case of mistaken identity complicated by extortion, double-crosses, deception, embezzlement, sex, pot, and gallons of White Russians. Jeff `The Dude' Lebowski is mistaken for Jeffrey Lebowski, who is The Big Lebowski. Which explains why he's roughed up and has his precious rug peed on. In search of recompense, The Dude tracks down his namesake, who offers him a job. His wife has been kidnapped and he needs a reliable bagman. Aided and hindered by his pals Walter Sobchak, a Vietnam vet, and Donny, master of stupidity. The soundtrack includes Bob Dylan, Yma Sumac, Moondog, Captain Beefheart, The Sons of the Pioneers and Creedence! 21+ only.

PNWild Presents: Seeing it Through

Education

PNWild presents the premiere of Seeing It Through. This is a film based around a lived mantra for PNWild as a whole. We charge into the mountains with a mindset to not be afraid of what is to come, to push past the boundaries of comfortability, and to not stop until what we set out for is accomplished. That is Seeing It Through. This project materialized early in 2018, there were a few different ideas thrown around, but eventually we landed on a defined idea: to set out into the high country, and harvest four beautiful mule deer. There was no working title for the film leading into the hunt as we wanted the title and feel of the film to be organically grown. As we progressed through the hunt “Seeing It Through” became a slogan that we were constantly saying to one another and ourselves. Arrive early for a social hour and product giveaways. Doors open at 5:00pm.
