Seattle International Comedy Competition Semifinals

Stand Up Comedy

Currently celebrating its 38th year, the Seattle International Comedy Competition is the real Last Comic Standing. In 26 days, 32 comedians from the US, Canada, UK, and Japan perform across 22 shows in 18 venues to try to win over $15,000 in cash prizes and the attention of major media talent executives. Be a part of the process and help narrow down the final contestants while these funny folks showcase their best material to see who can make you laugh the hardest.

Whatcom Symphony presents Harmony from DIscord with Cellist Clive Greensmith


In the Symphony’s next installment of our Harmony from Discord series, we shine a light on powerful music that transcends oppression. We are joined by cellist Clive Greensmith, formerly of the Tokyo String Quartet, who will present the North American premiere of composer and cellist Pál Hermann’s Cello Concerto as realized by Fabio Conti. We follow with Mahler’s iconic Totenfeier (Funeral Rites), and the concert finishes with Viktor Ullmann’s Variations and Fugue on a Hebrew Theme, which Ullmann composed from inside the Theresienstadt (Terezín) Concentration Camp. This concert is sure to be a testament to the incredible fortitude of the human spirit. A pre-concert lecture about the repertoire by Dr. Ryan Dudenbostel starts at 2:15 pm.

The Nutcracker

OPUS Performing Arts is proud to present The Nutcracker in collaboration with Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth (BAAY) on December 5-6 at Mount Baker Theatre. Audiences will enjoy this classic winter ballet with a unique theatrical twist. The Nutcracker features OPUS’ younger ballet students as cupcakes, peppermints, gingersnaps and other denizens of the Kingdom of Sweets, as well as their advanced dancers in the classic roles of Dewdrop, Nutcracker Prince, and the Sugar Plum Fairy. OPUS Adult Ballet students will also perform in supporting roles throughout the evening. BAAY performers ages 9-16 will be showcased as the infamous rat army, manipulators of large scale puppets and choral interludes. This exciting new performance is guaranteed to delight viewers of all ages.

Kulshan Chorus Presents: Gathering

Portland Cello Project Plays Radiohead, Coltrane & Bach

Don’t miss this regional treasure filling MBT’s stage with a huge, orchestral ensemble that includes brass, percussion, and guest vocals by Patti King of Portland band the Shins. Formed twelve years ago with nine classically trained cellists, Portland Cello Project has a mission to bring cellos to new places, bring new music to cellos, and bring to audiences all of the sonic ecstasy that happens in the process. Los Vivancos

World Dance

Los Vivancos are, unbelievably, seven brothers. Educated in different world cities, each speaks a minimum of four languages, plays at least two instruments, and many have been solo artists in major ballet and contemporary dance companies. Reunited, they have channeled their passion into their own eclectic style that dares to unify flamenco, ballet, martial arts, street dance, theatre, and acrobatics. Ladies of Laughter

Ladies of Laughter: Funny & Fabulous is back for its third hilarious showing on our Main Stage. This year promises three more current standouts from the comedy circuit, including Leighann Lord and her unique brand of “thinking cap comedy.” This highly awarded comedian has performed around the world, including London’s Comedy Store, the BBC, the NYC Underground Comedy Festival, ABC’s The View, and for US troops abroad. She’ll be joined by the winner of the 2018 Professional Division Championship from New York (still to be announced at print of this publication), and a well-suited third member from the Ladies of Laughter competition crew to round out a perfect evening of big laughs.

Don Felder


Experience serious rock ‘n’ roll with Don Felder, renowned as a former lead guitarist of one of the most popular and influential rock groups of all time: the Eagles. A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 1998, Felder served as a member of the Eagles for 27 years, putting his mark on numerous Eagles milestones and later writing a New York Times best-selling memoir. Felder originated the music and co-wrote the Eagles' biggest hit—the iconic, Grammy-studded smash “Hotel California”—along with fan favorites like “Victim of Love” and “Those Shoes.” You’ll recognize his lyrical, signature guitar work on rock classics like “One of These Nights” and “New Kid In Town.” Don’t miss this legendary performer.

The Hunts

Known for their harmony-laced alt-folk, the Hunts are a Chesapeake, Virginia-based band of seven siblings who have been playing music together almost their entire lives. Twin sisters Jessi and Jenni and brothers Josh, Jonathan, Jordan, Justin, and Jamison—now ranging in age from 26 down to 17—learned to sing and play violin as young kids and spent much of their childhood performing in their community. Adding mandolin, piano, ukulele, banjo, drums, and now songwriting to their repertoire has brought to life a batch of songs that reveal the siblings’ sophisticated sense of melody and undeniably dreamy innocence. The Mikado


Don’t miss the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players’ all-new, critically acclaimed production of The Mikado that premiered in 2017. The presentation represents a great deal of work between NYGASP and the Asian-American theatrical community in New York and serves an example of a cooperative effort to promote diversity, equity, and inclusive practice with classic works of art. Live from Laurel Canyon & Songs of American Folk Rock
