Call to Artists: Cup Show

Ceramics/Pottery

The Jansen Art Center is now accepting submissions for the 6th Annual Cup Show. Ceramic artists are encouraged to submit up to 3 pieces for consideration for this juried exhibit. There is a $10 submission fee and over $1000 in cash and prizes that will be awarded at the Opening Reception on Thursday, June 7. All submissions are accepted through the Jansen Art Center website.

Wednesday Lunchtime Music: Karen Scholten

Classical

Local music teacher, Karen Scholten, returns to the Piano Lounge at the Jansen Art Center. Scholten is a member of the Music Teachers National Association and the Washington State Music Association. She studied music history, music education, voice and concert choir at Seattle Pacific University. She teaches composition and piano to students of all ages in her studio in Everson.

Live at the Piano Lounge: Anissa

Blues, R&B/Soul, Pop

Anissa has been singing professionally world-wide since a young age. Each of her performances moves her audiences with her beautiful, soulful voice. She celebrated the release of her newest album, Tied, in November. Tied is Anissa's first album featuring all original music. It showcases her versatility as a singer in the R&B, Pop and Singer-Songwriter genres. Anissa will be joined by Erik Snyder (piano) for this performance.

Bonsai & Their Pots

Ceramics/Pottery, Art Show, Auction, Benefit/Fundraiser

Ceramic artists participating in this project created bonsai containers, and bonsai artists from the Whatcom Skagit Bonsai Society planted and designed trees to fit the containers. Bidding officially begins during the Opening Reception on Thursday, April 5 from 5 PM until 8 PM. Artists will be on hand to discuss their work. The auction will continue until 4 PM on Saturday, April 28. There will be a closing reception from 2 pm until 4 PM that day.

Call to Artist: Summer Juried Exhibit

The Jansen Art Center is now accepting submissions for the 2018 Summer Juried Exhibit. Each season, artists are invited to submit up to five pieces to be judged by a qualified jury made up of artists, curators, and other figures in the arts community. The selected pieces are displayed in the Jansen Art Center for the community to enjoy. Submissions will be accepted through 11:59 PM on Monday, May 14 via the website (www.jansenartcenter.org.

Promising Futures: Whatcom County High School Art

Art Show

The show provides dedicated, aspiring high school artists a chance to display their work in a fine arts gallery. The exhibit includes drawings, paintings, ceramics and digital art. Join us for the Opening Reception on Thursday, May 3 from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM to engage with the student artists and enjoy live music in the Piano Lounge with guitarist, Adrian Clarke. The exhibit will be on display through Thursday, May 31.
