Planning Your Training for Bellingham Bay - Starting Off on the Right Foot With Bellingham Bay race director Ben Twigg and Coach Carol Frazey Whether you are thinking about running the Bellingham Bay 5K or the marathon, join us for an evening of strategic planning for successful training to a great race. Find out about the support you can get along the way with Coach Carol Frazey’s training plans. Also, hear from race director Ben Twigg about pacing support in the race and all the ways you will be aided and cheered on during the race…and celebrated afterward.

Runnin' in Nature's Gym All Paces Run with Merrell

Running

Hit the trail in a pair of Merrell Agility Peak demo shoes (Supplies limited so if you hope to get a pair in your size, come early.) Merrell rep. Amber will also have some Bare Access Flex for those who like a barefoot-like, minimal shoe. We'll do a little forest bathing on the run with an out and back Interurban Trail route instead of our usual waterfront route. "How Well do you know your local trails game" beforehand. Raffle Prizes, giveways, and light drinks and eats afterward.

Running Form and Efficiency Tips Clinic

Staffer (and coach) Josh Vander Wiele will share some great tips for faster, easier, more injury free running. Participants will get a chance to practice what they learn with guided drills and feedback. There will be time for your running related questions, like “Am I breathing right?” Must RSVP by calling 360-676-4955

Talks/Lectures

With the Bellingham Distance Project. Physical Therapist, Nikki Buurma will teach you activation exercises on how to get your glutes in gear! Maxx Antush, BDP’s resident science nerd and WWU Graduate Student with a focus in Exercise Physiology, will talk about how heat and sun exposure can affect your training, and how to use it to your benefit in aims to win, not wilt! In conclusion, Licensed Massage Therapist, Katelyn Steen will demonstrate techniques on how to utilize self-massage post run for treatment at home.
