Ragfinery - Do the Twist: Knit a True Möbius Cowl

Class/Workshop

Note: This workshop takes place on two consecutive Wednesday evenings, November 1st & 8th. Knit a cozy scarf for the winter with this fun technique! We will learn the true möbius cast-on, a few different stitch patterns that look great on either side of the work, and how to finish with a bind-off. Knitting the body of the cowl is fun and easy to take home to work on between classes. You are welcome to contact the instructor for assistance if needed during that time. This cowl project is great for using up a mash-up of different yarns, or use just one or two for a more sophisticated look. Must be adept with knit, purl, cast on, bind off. Confident beginners with some experience ok, as well as intermediate/advanced knitters.

No-Sew Braided Rug

Class/Workshop

Come learn how to craft a beautiful no sew braided rug from old sheets! This four strand technique eliminates the need for sewing braids together and results in a sturdy rug able to withstand the modern washer and drier. These rugs are a great way to keep worn, torn, ugly or stained fabrics out of the landfill. Participant and Materials Requirements: Sharp scissors, 2 old bed sheets in different colors, flat or fitted, any size. Avoid white as this will be a rug and white will get dirty fast so I don’t recommend it. Patterns are fine. Sheets can also be purchased at Ragfinery prior to class.

Sewing Bootcamp

Class/Workshop

Workshop is held two Sat. mornings, 11/18 & 12/2. Learn to upcycle or alter your own clothes in this beginning sewing “bootcamp” series. Learn care and use of your sewing machine and solving basic sewing problems, take accurate body measurements and learn to fit items to your own aesthetic and body type. We will focus on embellishments and finishing touches specific to your project, i.e. pockets, zippers, buttons/buttonholes, hems, etc. Take away a short guide and reference list to assist you in applying your new skills at home. Please note that you will be working on the Ragfinery Baby Loc machines and we will not be working with patterns. Materials for the first project will be provided, and Brigitte will make every effort to choose the correct sewing tools suitable for your next project of choice. If you know what garment you will be working on, please bring it to the first session.
