Home Item Repair Workshop

Bring your broken household items to the SkillShare Space at the Central Library and work with skilled volunteers from NW Free Repairs to learn how to repair them. Volunteers have experience repairing common household items such as toys, small kitchen appliances, electric tools and many other items that would otherwise end up in a landfill. Please note: broken items may not be dropped off to be repaired. Owners must be willing to participate in making the repairs with the assistance of the volunteers. Raptor Encounters with Bud Anderson

Animals, Seminar, Education

Whatcom Land Trust and Falcon Research Group present this program. Whatcom and Skagit counties are excellent places to see a wide variety of birds of prey. During this free presentation, internationally recognized and respected raptor expert Bud Anderson will share stories of his encounters with local species of hawks, eagles and falcons and discuss which species are here and where to see them. He will also describe their characteristics, behavior and some unique aspects of these birds, as well as special encounters he's had with birds far afield from here. These programs fill quickly, seating is first-come, first-served and we have to stop letting people in when the room is full. Held in the lecture room.

Friends of the Bellingham Public Library Winter Book Sale

The Friends of the Bellingham Public Library Winter Book Sale begins on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 and runs through Saturday, January 27, 2018. As usual there is a large selection of books and media for all ages. Most items are only $1.00! Tables are re-stocked continually. Wed.-Thu. Most items $1. Fri. half-price sale. Sat. $4 bag sale. Held downstairs. All proceeds benefit the library. The hours are: Wednesday, January 24, and Thursday, January 25: 10am - 6pm, most items $1.00 Friday, January 26: 10am - 6pm, half-price sale day Saturday, January 27: 10am - 1pm: $4 per bag sale The sale is held downstairs in the Central Library at 210 Central Avenue. All proceeds benefit the library.
