Erin Hunter (Gillian Philip) at the Bellingham Public Library

Talks/Lectures, Signing/Readings

Bravelands #3: Blood & Bone Heed the call of the wild…discover the third book in this action-packed, New York Times bestselling animal fantasy series from the author of Warriors! Set in the African savannah and told from three different animals’ points of view, Bravelands will thrill readers who love Spirit Animals and Wings of Fire, as well as the fans who’ve made Erin Hunter a #1 nationally bestselling phenomenon . A great evil has risen. A murderer now leads the animals of the plains. As the elephant Sky leads her herd in a desperate search for Bravelands’ rightful leader, the baboon Thorn is forced to flee his old troop, and the lion Fearless, once their friend, is led astray by a tyrant. The balance of Bravelands is about to shatter—unless predator, prey, and scavenger unite as one. As you may have heard, Erin Hunter is actually six people! And one of those six authors is Gillian Philip who writes the Bravelands and Survivors series. Gillian Philip lives in the highlands of Scotland with her husband and their two children. Her books have been shortlisted for prizes including the Royal Mail Scottish Book Award and the North East Book Award. She has also been nominated for the Carnegie Medal for Crossing the Line. The author collective that is Erin Hunter is inspired by a love of animals and a fascination with the ferocity of the natural world. "She" is the author of the bestselling Warriors, Seekers, and Survivors series and lives in the UK. Visit her online at www.bravelandsbooks.com.

Chair Tai Chi

Health & Wellness/Nutrition, Meeting, Class/Workshop, Yoga/Pilates/Tai Chi

Chair Tai Chi uses all of the concepts and flowing choreographed movements of standing Tai Chi except it is performed in a seated position. Chair Tai Chi is a good mind body exercise for people of all ages. It is often called “Meditation in Motion” because it connects the mind and the body to achieve health and well-being. Chair Chi, as it is often called, is an excellent exercise for people who may have concerns about balance and want to improve their stability. For some, these concerns arise after a fall and worry that it might happen again. For others, arthritis or other physical issues prevent standing and moving for lengths of time. Chair Chi is perfect for people who live in small places but want to do a daily exercise. In this session, the presenter will teach the participants a set of movements that can be done at home. Take-home materials will be provided. For more information, contact Jenni at jjohnson@cob.org or 360-778-7217.
