Family Poetry Reading

Poetry Reading/Spoken Word

Three poets in one family will be reading together. Local writers Carla Conforto and her husband Jeffrey Morgan, as well as Jeff’s father John Morgan of Fairbanks, Alaska, are scheduled to read. All three have published poetry collections this year. Carla Conforto earned her MFA from Penn State University. Her work has been published in Court Green, Fourth Genre, The Columbia Poetry Review, among other places. Her chapbook, Popular Piety, has just been published by Dancing Girl Press. Jeffrey Morgan is the author of two poetry collections. In 2017, he was a National Poetry Series finalist. His second poetry collection, The Last Note Becomes Its Listener, won the Minds on Fire poetry contest and was published earlier this year by Conduit Press. His poems appear in Copper Nickel, The Kenyon Review Online, Poetry Northwest, Rattle, and West Branch, among other journals. John Morgan has published seven books of poetry, as well as a collection of essays. His poems have appeared in The New Yorker, Poetry, The American Poetry Review, The New Republic, The Paris Review, The Kenyon Review, and many other journals. In 2009, he served as the first writer-in-residence at Denali National Park. His book The Moving Out: Collected Early Poems was published recently by Salmon Poetry. The reading is free and the poets’ books will be available for purchase and signing.
