Morgan has won the Discovery Award of the New York Poetry Center (92nd Street Y) and first prize in the Carolina Quarterly Poetry Contest. In 2009, he served as the first writer-in-residence at Denali National Park. Annie Dillard has written that his poems “are strong and full of carefully controlled feeling. They are tender and precise evocations of the moral and sensory life of man.” Jeffrey Morgan is the author of two poetry collections. In 2017 he was a National Poetry Series finalist. His poems appear in Copper Nickel, The Kenyon Review Online, Poetry Northwest, Rattle, and West Branch, among others. His second poetry collection, The Last Note Becomes Its Listener, won the Minds on Fire poetry contest and was published earlier this year by Conduit Press.
