Forging & Drawing Down Wire - Beginning Jewelry Series

Students will learn how to manipulate the shape and/or thickness of wire through processes such as forging as well as using a draw plate. Forging is the art of controlled hammering to change the shape of metal, whether it be wire or thick sheet metal. Forging metal can be used both sculpturally and in smaller scale for your jewelry, adding volume to your artwork. Class will delve into the importance of manipulating stock materials when creating original art jewelry. Instructor: Leah Meleski. Prerequisites: Open to adults wanting to learn new skills & students have taken a Beginning Jewelry Metalsmithing Class or equivalent and are familiar with the jewelry studio.
