The WWU String Sinfonia will present music from Henry Purcell’s 1692 opera The Fairy Queen, followed by George Walker’s ravishing Lyric for strings. Walker, a Pulitzer Prize winner and one of America’s leading African-American composers, died in fall, 2018, at the age of 96. Concluding the first half is Judd Greenstein’s frenetic Reservoir. Symphony Orchestra- Following intermission, the WWU Symphony Orchestra takes the stage to present Igor Stravinsky’s iconic 1911 ballet Petrushka, revised by the composer in 1947.
