Raised in North Dakota by a family who loved to share stories through food, Anne has always been interested in the history within the meals we share and the ways people grow food across cultures Illustrator Kristen den Hartog is a novelist, memoirist, and artist whose love of gardening was inspired by her grandfather, a market gardener in the Netherlands. Kristen lives in Toronto, Canada. Blaine Wetzel, Head Chef of The Willows Inn on Lummi Island, began working in kitchens at age 14, and he's never stopped. A dozen years later, he has studied and apprenticed widely, notably at Rene Redzepi's noma in Copenhagen. The recipient of many honors, including a James Beard Award (Best Chef: Northwest), Blaine is committed to island and locally-sourced ingredients and the traditions of farm-to-table preparation.
