Exploring Enamels and Cloisonne

Class/Workshop, Mixed Media

In this 2- day workshop we will explore painting or wet packing transparent enamels onto copper and fine silver disks, we will kiln fire them to a glossy glass finish. We will explore layering colors to create depth and using foils to create light in our pieces. We will use cloisonné wire to create shapes and patterns that will be filled with enamel. You may or may not end up with a finished piece, other silversmithing techniques may be needed to get the finished look you want. You will take home several samples and pieces for future work. Educator: Becky Williams. Prerequisites: Open to adults, 18 years or older, wanting to learn new skills. Free parking & handicapped accessible.
