Climate Change and Forests - The PNW and Beyond

Talks/Lectures, Green/Environmental

Our local chapter of the Washington Native Plant Society invites you to a public meeting on October 17th from 7-9pm in the Sustainble Living Center (above the restore) with speaker Dr. David Peterson of UW School of Environmental and Forest Sciences. Dr. Peterson will describe effects of climate change on forest systems and the assertive management actions that can help reduce some negative effects and to ease the transition to a permanently warmer climate. Dr. David L. Peterson is a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize as contributing author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. He has conducted research on the effects of climate change and fire on forest ecosystems throughout western North America, and works to develop climate change assessment and adaptation strategies for these lands.
