Opening Doors: Prejudice and Inclusion

Expulsion of Chinese in 1885, of Punjabi Sikhs in 1907, and of residents of Japanese descent in 1942 It has happened before in Bellingham, and it can happen again. This multi-disciplinary interactive presentation regarding prejudice and inclusion brings together history, arts, and psychology to offer a path of mindful avoidance for these most human of tendencies prejudice and exclusion. Presenters include Dr. Paul Englesberg, educator and historian; singer and songwriter Linda Allen; WWU art students Carly McCartney, Ramneet Kaur, and Theresa Williams; and local mental health professionals Dr. Nina Spadaro, Rives Thornton, and Andrea Beilner.
