Richard Widerkehr and Barbara Bloom

Richard Widerkehr and Barbara Bloom will read from their new books of poems at Village Books at 4 pm on October 29. Richard's book, In The Presence Of Absence, rich with musicality and images, pays reverent attention to details of daily life. He won two Hopwood awards at University of Michigan, and has had poems published in Rattle, Jeopardy, and Floating Bridge Review. Having lived in Bellingham almost forty years, he's a poet, novelist, and musician who often performs at open mic's. Barbara's new book is Pulling Down the Heavens, a rich collection of poems about family and nature. She's published in a number of magazines, and three poems from her first book were read on Garrison Keillor's Writer's Almanac. She grew up in California and on a remote homestead in British Columbia.
