WWU Jazz Ensembles


Studies show that listening to music at 60-80 beats per minute, like jazz, can alter your mind! Your brain can synchronize with the beat, resulting in alpha brainwaves which make you relaxed but alert. That can help you think more clearly. Listening to jazz for at least 45 minutes can help you sleep better, with less dysfunction during the day. It can also decrease pain, lower blood pressure, and boost your immune system.
